Third book from Hunger Series on the Way!!!!!
Just got an email from Amazon and the third book in the Hunger Game series has been shipped. It was scheduled to be released on August 24 but it came out a few days early. I'm hoping my copy will be delivered Monday or Tuesday. Can't wait to read it. If you want to borrow my copy come by the library and give Mrs. Stick your name and I'll get the book to you as soon as I finish it. I'll probably read it overnight!
Eleven by Patricia Reilly Giff
Just got through reading Eleven and it was a really good book. Here is a book review from Amazon:
Sam is almost 11 when he discovers a locked box in the attic above his grandfather Mack’s room, and a piece of paper that says he was kidnapped. There are lots of other words, but Sam has always had trouble reading. He’s desperate to find out who he is, and if his beloved Mack is really his grandfather. At night he’s haunted by dreams of a big castle and a terrifying escape on a boat. Who can he trust to help him read the documents that could unravel the mystery? Then he and the new girl, Caroline, are paired up to work on a school project, building a castle in Mack’s woodworking shop. Caroline loves to read, and she can help. But she’s moving soon, and the two must hurry to discover the truth about Sam.

THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ISLAND by Allegra Goodman
Ever since Honor moved to Island 365 with her parents from the wild Northern Islands, she's been noticing that her parents don't quite fit in. Island life is peaceful and orderly since Earth Mother enclosed what land was still inhabitable after catastrophic weather terrorized the Earth. But her parents don't worship Earth Mother like everyone else does, and they don't follow the rules. And that scares Honor, because she learns that those who are unpredictable disappear - and they don't come back. (from book cover)
This was a fantastic book--one of those you can't put down. This would be a great book for us to have a book talk over--lots of topics to talk about. I'm thinking there will be a sequel--we'll have to wait and see.

HUNGER GAMES BEING MADE INTO MOVIE
The book Hunger Games is being made into a movie and I can't wait to see it. According to what I've read it should come out in 2011. Just imagine all the gory scenes! Wonder if it will just be over Hunger Games or if it will include the other 2 books in the trilogy. The third book is scheduled to come out on August 24. I've got it preordered from Amazon so we should have it at the library as soon as it is released. Who do you think should play Katniss?

Antsy Does Time----Coming up next!
Fueled by friendship and sympathy, Antsy Bonano signs a month of his life over to his “dying” classmate Gunnar Umlaut. Soon everyone at school follows suit, giving new meaning to the idea of “living on borrowed time.” But does Gunnar really have six months to live, or is news of his imminent death greatly exaggerated? When a family member suffers a heart attack after donating two years to Gunnar, Antsy wonders if he has tempted fate by playing God. (review from Shelfari)
OK--this is the book that I'm reading next. I chose it because it's by Neal Shusterman and I always like his books. Have any of you read this?

The Compound by S.A. Bodeen
After spending the last six years in an underground compound following a nuclear attack with his parents and two sisters, fifteen-year old Eli begins to discover that his father has been perpetuating a hoax on the family, and it is up to Eli to save his family from his father's ever-increasing loss of sanity. (From Sequoyah Book Committee)
I just finished The Compound this weekend and it was a good book. The book starts out a little slow but then it turns into a real page-turner. This is definitely a book that you should read.

Why don't YOU blog?????
Have you thought about having your own blog? You can talk about whatever you want--books, sports, a hobby or just your life in general. It's easy and, best of all, it's free. There are 2 places that I know of (there are probably many more) where you can create your free blog: www.blogspot.com and www.wordpress.com
The site that I used to create this one is blogspot. To get cool backgrounds go to www.thecutestblogontheblock.com/
Let's see what you have to say!

I left 2 books off the list of new Sequoyah books. They are Antsy Does Time by Neal Shusterman (hope it's as good as Unwind) and Stolen by Vivian Vande Velde. I've added them to the list now.
